Jeb Bush Comes Out Against Arizona Law

Bush Comes Out Against Arizona Law

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) "is speaking out against the new hard-line immigration law in Arizona, becoming the first prominent national Republican to do so," Politico reports.

Said Bush: "I think it creates unintended consequences. It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well."

Bush added that he "understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue."

4. Yea, Jeb would understand the importance of not alienating Latino voters.
In the 2008 Presidential Election, Republicans won only 31% of the Latino vote, down from 40% of Latino votes they had four years earlier when George Bush took office for the second time. And based on exit polls, it seems apparent that the Hispanic vote played a large part in President Obama’s Electoral College victory and win over John McCain. Add to this the fact that from 1998 to 2008 the number of Latinos eligible to vote rose by 21% (from 16.1 million to 19.5 million), and factor in estimates that say that by 2050 the Hispanic population is expected to increase by 200% and you get a reasonable explanation why Republicans are beginning to panic about how to ensure support from the Latino community. Now that Republicans have woken up to the fact that they desperately need to secure Hispanic support, the question is how they intend to go about doing this, and whether they have it in them to go beyond the surface and address issues that resonate deeply with the Latino community.

12. Yep. Jebby might just be lining the ducks up for a presidential run
It would be so bush-like to rove up the wingers in AZ to pass a law that will not stand up but makes for great theater. Some GOP pol can come off looking all reasonable an stuff by coming out against it. It would play well with some voting blocks and Jeb is a political beast.

13. I'm almost certain he will run.
The pic posted above made me cringe at the thought. I'll not borrow that trouble now though, as I have enough trouble to fill this day already.

9. Jeb's wife Columba is Mexican
Edited on Tue Apr-27-10 09:28 PM by rabs

From 1999 -- (AP) Gov. Jeb Bush said that his wife "feels horrible" about failing to declare $19,000 worth of clothing and jewelry she bought in Paris, but did it so he wouldn't find out how much she spent.

"It is a lot of money. But look, that's between her and me," said Bush, adding that his wife was embarrassed.

Columba Bush paid $4,100 in duty and fines to the Customs Service for failing to declare the merchandise upon her arrival in Atlanta last week.

George P. Bush: Guess his skin color would make his suspect to Arizona cops.
-----------------
On December 31, 1994, Bush showed up at 4 AM at the Miami home of a former girlfriend. He proceeded to break into the house via the woman's bedroom window, and then began arguing with his ex's father. Bush, then a Rice University student, soon fled the scene. But he returned 20 minutes later to drive his Ford Explorer across the home's front lawn, leaving wide swaths of burned grass in his wake. Young Bush avoided arrest when the victims declined to press charge

-----------------
Then there is this poor young lady

Noelle Bush arrested twice, first for shoplifting in Arizona in 1995, then for drug-related issues and prescription fraud. Later, she was busted for possessing cocaine at a rehab facility in Florida.

The little one, Jeb Jr. following in the steps of his older siblings; in 2001 he was caught by the cops having sex in a public place and then he was later arrested for public drunkness.

Then there are the Bush twins who tried to use fake IDs to have liquor served.

And of course dubya -- who still looks like he is liquor-soused.

What a family !

15. The career politicians are wishing the racist loons would get back in their boxes.
The loons have apparently tired of dog whistle pandering from their scam artist "leaders", and they're really making a mess of that party.
