to Grassley's office in DC. Asked that my call be on the record and I did not engage in niceties--mind you, I didn't curse or anything. I did, however, tell the young man that I'm asking Grassley to vote for cloture. That for the past year I've watched him sit on his hands and obstruct any movement forward on several other issues as well. That our household has made note of it. I also communicated to him that it is really disconcerting to see Republicans actually arguing against consumer protection as part of financial regulatory reform. That reform in the financial sector is essential and we, as a nation, cannot afford another repeat of these cycles in history. He needs to vote for cloture and get on with business. AND I also mentioned that real work needs to be done on immmigration and climate issues as well--not posturing.
I'm on the phone again to my rep soon and to Harkin's office as well. I suggest you all do the same because this needs to come unstuck. There is plenty to do and the people's business is not necessarily getting the same-old, same-old re-elected.
