The popular media can't adjust their favorite story lines, and the mere idea that Republicans would be anything other than "disciplined" and "principled" isn't to be accommodated. Some new story line will be cobbled together so that it looks like Democrats caved or are in disarray, and that the Republicans are being ever so principled.
