What would you do without DU?
Let's say that DU suddenly vanished into thin air (I know, it's hard to even think that much less write it down).

Would you find another site to hang out at? How would you do that? Just spend more time at another favorite site?

Or would you feel lost and probably not spend as much time at the computer?

I honestly don't know which one I'd do.

You?

No big loss, really.

13. So would my house
and I'd weave up every bit of stuff I have stored away, spin all the fibre I have, and finish the shawls I'm planning to knit.

I'd probably make trips to the thrift shop every day, getting rid of stuff I no longer have the ambition to deal with.

Shoot, I might even dust.

it just occurred to me what 'Warpy' stands for . . . *smacks self upside head*

I'm a spinner, too!

and fibro certainly makes me that.

I have a Louet S-15 and learned to spin out of a book. You?

32. Ashford traditional single drive - the first (and only) wheel
I've bought. I took classes while living in a small town, along with my son. He lost interest after a few years but I've continued on. A friend taught me the basics of weaving and I'm pretty good at it, but don't care for the table looms and can't afford a floor loom . . . so I just spin.

Another friend just brought me back some lovely black Romney from New Zealand; I'm mixing some with kid mohair and some with tussah top. Looking forward to spinning it up.

It's all very Zen, isn't it? :)

16. DU is a helpful site
I find much good information for show preps here and in spite of some who are just here to sound off and flame, I do find a lot of good and thoughtful expressions here. I try to just blow off the flamers and closed minded ones but can't resist sometimes trying to expose them for the "got my panties in a wad" people they are.

ANOTHER SITE???

There is no place as elegant with architecture so intuitive, posters so clever and insightful, information so encyclopedic, wits sharper or hearts larger...

(I would probably go through many many weeks of severe withdrawal)

22. You said it exactly
Some people talk about DU giving them high blood pressure, but honestly, aside from Jon Stewart and Craig Ferguson (well and some others), DU is my main source of humor that probably lowers my BP. The snark, the intelligence, the indignance (? indignity? no, that's not right), the humor, the brilliance, it's a treasure.

28. My feeling, entirely. The DUers are simply the brightest, most creative bunch of people I've ever
known. These are reasonable, intelligent, artistic, very intellectual and incisive thinking people. I would be very upset to lose this group. I have come to enjoy and love my interactions every day with people who are SO in synch with me...

23. more shopping
The advantage of that is that the stores I like tend to stick around. People I am getting to know and like keep getting booted out of here so I get discouraged by DU fairly often now. That I hadn't seen in my first four or so years here but once it began to touch my experience it made me less willing to really engage here. I see enough loss as it is.

I'd be fine. No biggie. I like DU for the quick discussion it has, but I do have a life outside of DU. I also have most of my DU friends on FB, so I am glad for FB really. You can't get banned from there for no real reason.

33. I joined in 2002 and it helped a lot, but at this point I spend too much time here.
If DU disappeared into thin air I'd probably go into some form of withdrawal -- but since I don't go to any other discussion boards or the like, I'd just go back to reading books instead. DU isn't as useful to me anymore since there are so many people here whose sole purpose in life seems to be causing dissension. At this point it's more of a habit than anything else.

I'll continue being a donor as long as I'm here-- and I've sponsored more than a half a dozen stars during fund drives, so clearly I have an investment it DU.

Hekate

40. Yeah, between 2001 and 2007 this site kept me informed and somewhat sane
It still helps keep me informed but it more regularly undermines the sanity part for the reason mention.
