And it will take 90 days min. to drill the relief wells.

Better hope the suction hood like plan thing works.

The Coast Guard says a new leak has been found at the site where an oil platform exploded and sank in the Gulf of Mexico.

Rear Adm. Mary Landry says that 5,000 barrels a day is now estimated to be leaking. Officials had been saying for days that it was 1,000 barrels a day.

She also says the Secretary of Homeland Security has briefed the president on this new information. She says the government has offered to have the Department of Defense help contain the spill.

Landry says National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration experts upgraded the figure based on aerial surveys, study of the trajectory of the oil slick and other factors.

3. This is really terrible.
The EXXON VALDEZ disaster was a devastating blow to us up here, one of those things, that for Alaskans ranks up there with 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina and the '64 Quake. As awful as it was though, at least it was a finite amount of oil. This thing in the Gulf could go on for months.

This should be a real wake-up call as to the dangers of offshore drilling. We MUST break our addiction to oil. It destroys us in so many ways.
