Conservatives MOCK Pelosi For Airbrushed Magazine Shot, Stay SILENT On Laura Bush's Retouched Book
CONSERVATIVE HYPOCRISY!:spank:

<> <>

" House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is on the May/June 2010 cover of the DC magazine “Capitol File,” and conservatives are all worked up that the photograph of her may have been airbrushed. The Washington Examiner has a piece titled “Cover girl Pelosi looking rather … airy in D.C. glossy”:

If you haven’t managed to score a copy of the May/June 2010 edition of Capitol File magazine (typically flanked on every table or bathroom at any D.C. social function) you’ll notice the cover girl Nancy Pelosi looking particularly young.

Celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Ayman Hakki of Luxxery Medical Boutique in Waldorf, Md., said although he believes Pelosi has had work done (specifically Botox of the frown lines, fat injections, a mini face-lift), the image is not the product of additional plastic surgery.

“There is airbrushing around her eyes, her upper lid has been airbrushed to make it look like there is less fat on the inside,” Hakki told Yeas & Nays. “And there is airbrushing on the line of her jaw.”

The story was touted on Fox Nation and featured on the Drudge Report:

Drudge doesn’t seem to sense any irony in the fact that next to his Pelosi story is a picture of former First Lady Laura Bush’s book cover, which also looks less than 100 percent natural. ThinkProgress spoke to a couple of graphic designers who said that there definitely was some airbrushing done to the Laura Bush photograph.

Additionally, in the past, conservatives have advocated more airbrushing of female politicians. They were outraged when Newsweek featured a picture of Sarah Palin that showed her natural features. So basically, airbrushing conservative women is acceptable, but airbrushing Democratic women is ridiculous.

While people debate the merits of airbrushing magazine shots, it’s a common practice and certainly not a scandal that says anything about the person being photographed.

Very dignified and beautiful. And both have contributed to society.

7. I'd agree that Pelosi has, but what has Laura Bush done for society
other than commit vehicular manslaughter and pop Xanax by the fistful?

I've been scratching my head since I read this. I can't think of a thing, but I'm willing to be convinced.

15. She seems to be nice when she gave interviews.
Not sure, but seems like she is a nice person, and that is a big contribution in society.

I could be wrong, but from memory, she seemed to always seem friendly when seen on TV.

I think she was a librarian or a teacher at one time, remember something about that. Those are both honorable professions in my view so there is that to.

Maybe it's Pelosi's hair, a generic anchorperson's hairdo...but the Joker is unmistakable.

OK I'm sorry. me :spank:

11. That looks like Katie Couric's face on Pelosi's body
In any event, the editorial decision to airbrush the hell out Pelosi's features is up to the magazine's editors. The photo on the cover of one's book is up to the author. So, while this "controversy" barely merits the time it takes to notice it, the person responsible for how Pelosi looks on the magazine cover is someone on the magazine staff; the person responsible for how Bush looks on the book cover is Bush herself.

22. Quite so. No one asks the "subject" if they would like to be airbrushed.
Not that the editors would care; they know attractive faces sell magazines.

Ask k d lang, who never wears makeup -- and who had *lipstick* airbrushed onto a magazine cover photo. (Ooooh, much more feminine! Twits.)

19. Pelosi was a fox. Laura B. never was.
Apart from that, the hypocrisy is both astonishing and completely unsurprising.

23. Photo of Laura's face without Botox, makeup & airbrushing...
Note/Disclaimer: The phone of Laura Bush is a before and after depiction of what she truly looks like without massive amounts of botox, makeup and five gallons of paint to airbrush her photo. Photos were, of course, not altered in any way.
