...updating this stuff?

Or am I missing something? Surely they're not trying to keep it from the public...that would be to stupid to be believed.

1. Same reason bush/cheney didn't let cameras at Dover when the dead came home
Same reason we don't see the wars every night on the evening news....

The people who run the world learned (during Vietnam) that letting the people see what was actually happening tended to get them mad enough to take action.

2. I've been following the one below, but it seems to just wash back and forth not
really coming to shore. I was wondering the same as you... Here's the one I've been watching. However, I just noticed with the 5/16 update it's now very close.

5. wierd how it gets larger, and then smaller, in that daily progression graphic...
...like, if it's stretched so far west one day...what happens the next day? Does it all flow back? There's something not right about it.

3. It's like that living blob in the lake from the
Creepshow. Every particle is mutating and seeks to devour life. I wondered why I dreamed of flamingos and pelicans vanishing the night before the spill. Well:(

10. Thanks. Don't you think it's strange how the spill reaches into areas and then on subsequent days...
...it's no longer in that area...having receded tens of miles? It looks wrong. This animation is using the parameters given by NOAA, but they don't really explain it.

12. Because we're only seeing the surface area,
and it's floating on the water, it's size and shape probably literally blow in the wind. High and low tides could also affect it's movement.

11. Yep. Such bad PR by BP. They'll be dissecting this in PR classes...
...and placing it along the Exxon Valdez in terms of PR fuck ups. Just tell people everything...rule #1. And be contrite...rule #2. Any whiff of concealment or arrogance/self-preservation spells failure.

No doubt Rahm is protecting every politician in Washington DC from citizen (not consumer) rage about this.

Reminds me of Katrina and all the shit Rove used to pull. :puke:

13. And absolutely NO information on how much oil is spewing from the OTHER LEAK!!!
The one causing the controversy over whether it's 5000 barrels a day or 70,000 barrels is just the larger of two leaks. No video and not a peep about how much is coming out of the other leak, or did I miss that?

14. Perhaps they don't want to create panic in society at large.
Leaving everyone to think "it's not my back yard" is the American way any more.
