3. If there is a goal, it is to keep the Shiite dominated Maliki Govt alive but that is supported by al-Sadr and is Iranian friendly.

4. But Iran is our enemy.

5. But we are selling weapons to Iran.

6. Iran is sending weapons to "insurgents" but according to 3 the insurgents have to be the Sunnis.

and it's actually pretty easy to figure out what's going on. The original terms of victory were disarm Saddam and remove him. Then it was "free the Iraqi people and setup a Democracy". Well, all those conditions have been met. What's really screwed up is that the three major factions in Iraq all hate us. The Shia hate us because we supported Saddam in the Iran/Iraq war, the Kurds hate us because Bush Sr, promised them if they tried to overthrow Saddam after Gulf War 1 we would back them up, instead we left Saddam with enough gas to poison them, and the Sunni's hate us because they lost their minority leadership when we overthrew Saddam. Not to mention that extremist Sunni's make up Al-Qaeda. Nobody wants us in there. The only reason we are still in Iraq and planning to head into Iran is the oil. Period.
