DU, Hillary, and me!
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 05:08 PM by Cascadian
If Hillary Rodham Clinton gets the nomination for the Democratic Party, I think I will be going away from DU until the day after the election. I don't want to get bashed whenever I point out what Hillary did wrong or any criticism I may have of Hillary. Anybody who shares the same view I do ought to do the same. Expect to fall in lock step with Hillary or get out of the way!

If Hillary wins the election, I will return, offer my congratulations, but don't think for one minute she will get a free pass from me. She will be scrutinized on everything she does. I will not be afraid to call B.S. if she follows a corporatist/militarist agenda.

If she loses to the Republicans, I will return, lament over what could have been, and then say "told you so!" The Democrats will have made a huge mistake. I may even have to reconsider a return to my separatist politics. The Cascadian National Party maybe dead but the ideas and goals are still on the table just in case.

8. Actually, some people are already restarting.
They call themselves the Cascadian Independence Project. They have adopted many of the same policies that the CNP had. Here is the website.....

http://CascadiaNow.org

Keep in mind that the server is sometimes down now and then but by all means bookmark it.

They are also on MySpace as well....

I am not involved with them as of now but I am leaving that option open. Just in case ;)

5. I think this way about Edwards and plan on leaving for a while
should he get the nod.

Hillary I can at least stand - and I'm not sure whether I'll vote for her in the general or not (you see, she wouldn't win my state with or without my vote), but I find Edwards to be a big phony.

I have my opinions, but I won't break DU rules and campaign against him.... here.

Hillary bashing, on DU, the main stream media, the radio talk shows, that I have decided that I may have to vote for her. I can't believe that the election is so far off and we can't be more open minded about our candidates .People around here seem to accept Chuck Hagel more than our own Dems.

10. That's how it should be
When we're running to win a campaign, we get behind the candidate, their message and their strategy - and win the damn thing. AFTER we win, is the time to hold their feet to the fire, like we're doing with this Congress. I don't know why people have such a hard time putting their personal agendas on the sidelines for 3 months.

12. Not me. I'm going to stay here, work @ getting Dem elected, and point out shortfalls.
I reserve the right to criticize anyone and will be watching everyone. If people don't like that, well, that is their right also. These statements go for whomever gets the nomination. Period.

such as when Reagan and Ford died. I'll support the Dem nominee no matter who it is.

BTW, when Kerry was the dem nominee many here pointed out what they viewed as mistakes being made by his campaign. He was heavily criticized.

But I have no doubt many will follow your example and trash her at ever turn. We're pretty good about eating our own and cutting off our noses to spite our face. :)

hands and predicting doom and gloom for the Democratic Party.

For one thing, you could post positive threads about a candidate you like as we gear up for primary season.

If Hillary Clinton does indeed win the nomination (and who knows what will happen it is so early), you could publicly support her in the face of the republican candidate, who I guarentee you will be more of a threat to America than Hillary Clinton. If you want to bitch about her at DU, I think that is always welcome. You just can't actively work for the defeat of a Dem nominee for president. . .that's the rules, not my rule, but the rules of Democratic Underground.

Now should Hillary Clinton win the nomination and win the election, of course you are allowed to "hold her feet to the fire." That's what we ALL will do.

However please don't jump down her throat before she has a chance to do anything, as I have seen so many on DU w Nancy Pelosi, before she was even sworn in.

Should Hillary Clinton win the nomination and lose the election, I would ask you to keep your "I Told You So" to yourself for a little while. Because nobody will be in the mood to hear that kind of negative BS. JMHO

Again, all of this stuff is in the future and it is unclear who is going to be the nominee.
