England, on behalf of sane Americans, we apologize for Georgie
Dear Queen Elizabeth II and beloved England,

Our pResident's jokes, discourteous gestures, and overall behavior make it appear he was raised by wolves... no wait, I take that back, wolves everywhere don't deserve that insult.

We are embarrassed by him, and sadly, despite his intent on destroying the very fabric of Democracy that our nation was founded upon, our leadership we voted into Congress last year apparently doesn't feel as a group that his Administration is worth impeaching. This, despite a plethora of reasons that are very sound and go back to when he first got into office, somehow. We also apologize for the many deaths of your troops, who have died along side ours, in the Iraq Invasion that your country was boondoggled into.

Most Sincerely,
Sane Americans Everywhere

12. I think he takes every chance he can
to be insulting to people... he has in the past hundreds of times, so why not this time.. .although, his IGNORANCE also gives strong argument to your idea of why he did it.. LOL

28. What did he say?
I spent yesterday in the hosptial trying NOT to have my baby early. I missed Little Boots' gaffe (which is good. A large belly laugh followed by a stomach ache from the pain of knowing we have a president like this probably wouldn't have helped stop my contractions).

9. "Dear Queen Elizabeth II "
Edited on Mon May-07-07 11:15 PM by Reterr
That made me a little queasy ;).

No thank you from this sane American! I don't have the slightest inclination to apologize for this. If this was all that was wrong with Bush I wouldn't be complaining. Bush has done a lot of things that have pissed me off -I have frequently wanted to apologize to the Iraqis as well as to most other species sharing the planet with us, for Georgie.

But I don't care if he was rude to the "queen". Yes, it is sad that he has the manners of a pig, but if he has to be rude to someone I would rather it was that stuck-up, fake monarch rather than our military families etc. (to whom he has frequently been rude).

Ol' whatserface and Bush deserve each other.

11. She was a guest and he behaved like a redneck
It's further embarrassment this country doesn't need, he can't even act civilized to our best allies! I understand there's a LOT worse things he's done, but it doesn't mean everything else is ignored, just letting the couple hundred UK members of DU know we're sorry he made the wisecrack about them, and was an sob... not that it was out of the ordinary but you'd think he'd take extra medication for this event! :)

He is capable of that :wow:. Who knew? Seriously, given that he can barely communicate, even that is a step up ;).

Oh God..was it as a pun *groan*...?

20. Well, even if you've CHOSEN to be ignorant about something...
Edited on Mon May-07-07 11:57 PM by IntravenousDemilo
that's still no reason to parade the ignorance about as if it's a good thing or wear it like a badge of honour. That just compounds the ignorance.

23. Feel free to pledge as much allegiance to the "royals" as you wish
Don't expect everyone else to join you.

As far as gaffes go "the Queen" should be used to them given what an expert Prince Phillip was with them:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/derby/features/2003/11/queens_visit/prince_philip_gaffes.shtml
Speaking to a driving instructor in Oban, Scotland: "How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to get them through the test?"

To an Australian Aborigine during a visit in March 2002: "Still throwing spears?"

On cuisine in 1966: "British women can't cook."

During the 1981 recession: "Everybody was saying we must have more leisure. Now they are complaining they are unemployed."

Sharing a joke with a blind, wheelchair-bound girl with a guide-dog: "Do you know they have eating dogs for the anorexic now?"

Commenting on modern stress counselling for servicemen in 1995: "We didn't have counsellors rushing around every time somebody let off a gun, asking 'Are you all right? Are you sure you don't have a ghastly problem?' "

Responding to calls for a firearm ban after the Dunblane shooting: "If a cricketer, for instance, suddenly decided to go into a school and batter a lot of people to death with a cricket bat, which he could do very easily, I mean, are you going to ban cricket bats?"

Referring to an old-fashioned fusebox in a factory near Edinburgh in 1999: "It looks as if it was put in by an Indian."

Referring to a Cambridge University car park attendant who failed to recognise him in 1997: "Bloody silly fool!"

Talking to young deaf people in Cardiff about the school's steel band: "Deaf? If you are near there, no wonder you are deaf."

24. You forgot when he was in China and he told a group of British students there...
Edited on Tue May-08-07 01:58 AM by IntravenousDemilo
"If you stay here much longer, you'll all be slitty-eyed." That was very ignorant of him, and nothing to be proud of.

That said, the Her Majesty is not the Duke of Edinburgh. She's a very classy lady doing a tough job, and she is my Queen. Long may she innocuously reign.

I far prefer a non-elected figurehead as Head of State. Investing too much political power in the HoS leads to Hitlers.

25. Actually, she's not a "fake monarch",
she's a real monarch. An anachronistic waste of space and money and one for which I have no love or respect, to be sure, but real nonetheless. Bush is a fake monarch.

29. QEII is not a "stuck up fake monarch."
Edited on Tue May-08-07 07:25 AM by MookieWilson
You don't have to believe in the monarchy, but QEII is one of the few people to duke it out with Margaret Thatcher over her harsh policies.

Read socialist Karl Polanyi's "The Great Transformation" - among other things - to see that the crown has been the only consistent advocate for the Little Guy in England.

When QEII visited DC last time, she went to the poor neighborhoods. Nelson Mandela didn't.

Besides, she just loathed Nancy Reagan and did a killing imitation of her. She also loathes W.

14. We don't have to apologize for him
he isn't our president

he wasn't elected fairly either time

i won't apologize for something i had nothing to do with.

let him apologize for himself or let his followers apologize

if they won't and don't, then fuck them

we will rise again and then we can say to the world, um, here we are, the real Americans who were held hostage by the fundie, homophobic, sect of politicoreligionists who took power through deceit and bribery.

We are back we aren't sorry for their mistakes, they aren't ours.

We will instead show you what real Americans can and will do in this world we share with you!

it's still polite to let them know we're sorry for his embarrassing us diplomatically (that's something the president is supposed to handle well), but I like your gusto about what it will be like when we take control back

could have saved me a lot of typing. Never apologized for this scumbag. Yeah, I hate it that the rest of the world now judges US because of HIM, but what can WE do about it? Not much of anything, right? The backwash owns this puppy, let them defend him and apologize for him.

I didn't vote for him, I don't support him, I think he's a miserable failure as a pResident AND as a human being. Why should I apologize for something that I didn't do or help create. Let the backwash apologize for this wasted wad.

Edited on Tue May-08-07 12:18 AM by Breeze54

Some of us — hopefully most of us — are trying to understand and appreciate the effect our recent
election will have on you, the citizens of the rest of the world. As our so-called leaders redouble
their efforts to screw you over, please remember that some of us — hopefully most of us — are truly,
truly sorry. And we'll say we're sorry, even on the behalf of the ones who aren't.
