What do you MEAN I'm not going to die?
Edited on Mon May-07-07 11:03 PM by LoZoccolo
LONDON (Reuters) - A British man who went on a wild spending spree after doctors said he only had a short time to live wants compensation because the diagnosis was wrong and he is now healthy -- but broke.

John Brandrick, 62, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago and told that he would probably die within a year.

1. I know somebody with AIDS who did that
He got a bunch of credit cards, went on a spree...and then the antiretroviral drugs came in.

He's still alive but very deep in debt.

4. I have seen this before...
I worked on the bankruptcy of a gay man who seemed to be planning on dying from HIV before he was forty, and managed his finances around that assumption. At 45 and without HIV he was hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt with no assets to speak of other than about $2000 worth of stereo equipment and furniture.

How anybody could spend that much money on anything other than drugs and own basically nothing was unbelievable, but this guy was quite convinced that he and half the worlds population was going to be wiped out by aids and might as well have a good time until then.
