2. Actually they said they are investigating Iran's responsibility
It was not said definitively that Iran was responsible.

5. Give Them A Couple Of Days
I'll bet anyone a 6-Pack of Guinness that they investigate, and then rule that Iran was directly involved.

Heck, I bet they don't even need to do the investigation. The determination has likely already been made.

14. i could see a scenario in which iran egged * on to attack them...
in a strictly conventional war in their own country/region- they would kick our ass. unlike iraq- iran has a REAL military, and a REAL air force, and REAL missiles.

Military investigators looking into possible Iranian links to Karbala attack
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Military investigators are looking into the possibility that the sneak attack on a military compound in Karbala Jan. 20 may have been carried out by Iranians or Iranian-trained operatives, a U.S. official told CNN Tuesday.

An official from another government agency also said that is a leading theory of the investigation into the attack that killed five soldiers.

Both officials stressed that this is a preliminary view, and there is no final conclusion. They agreed this possibility is being looked at because of the sophistication of the attack and the level of coordination.

Another possible indicator, said investigators, is that the attackers spoke English well, which helped them get past several checkpoint areas into the compound. Investigators are particularly looking at how the attackers got U.S.-type military uniforms and SUVs similar to those used by U.S. troops.

The second official said that while there were initial indicators the attack was carried out by members of the Jesh al-Mahdi militias loyal to Muqtada al-Sadr, the attack was more sophisticated than anything carried out by them so far.

18. So the reasoning they're basing this "analysis" on is that it was highly sophisticated,
And the attackers spoke English. Gee, perhaps that would be more indicative that these attackers were from the West, not Iran.

Really now, I would expect that Iraqi tactics would become more sophisticated as the war wore on. And I imagine that there are plenty of Enlish speaking Iraqis. Unlike Americans, Iraq and many other countries require their citizens to be able to speak a second language, usually English, by the time they're out of school.

This is just more bullshit being spewed in order to justify another illegal, immoral attack on a sovereign country.

Like stolen American military uniforms and Chevy Suburbans are hard to come by in Iraq.

and a good 'foot soldier' for this administration's propaganda. His presentation of this story was 'shock and awe' and really ramped up.

Gotta get the word out - we are at war with Oceana ....no wait, that was last week.....

24. Here's some info....
This is from Time...they call it a rumor

~snip~ Some Iraqis speculate that the IRGC has already started a campaign of revenge with the killing of five American soldiers in Karbala on Jan. 20, nine days after the arrest of the IRGC members in Erbil. As the logic of the rumor goes, five American soldiers were killed for five Iranians taken; Karbala was an IRGC message to release its colleagues — or else.
~snip~
