I saw at least one member who is in Key West and I would like to know what's happening there because of the oil spill.

1. Oops accidentally hit unrec. Sorry. |

I think the oil is going to skip the Keys. At least that's what I heard a week or so ago.

I just wondered because of what cwydro said about everyone being upset and scared.

But the Keys encompass far more than just Key West.
They actually expect it to hit the middle Keys first...(Key West is in the lower Keys)
Everyone knows it is coming, though praying it won't and believe me, we are not a particularly religious group down here.
Stay tuned.

I lived there for 3 years. Do you know Key West by the Sea condos? I liked there in the 80's.
If it hits any of the beaches in the Keys that is truly a disaster for the Keys.

5. Yes, know that well there on Smathers Beach |

I work at the airport just up the road.
The Keys are toast if this hits.
BP execs have been flying in all week, which scares the shit out of me.

6. I bet it's grown up around those |

condos. I remember being there when some hurricane passed by and the water washed over the little wall there on Smather's Beach. It was the only hurricane I experienced while I was in Key West.
I hope the oil doesn't hit the beaches there. Good luck!

We all hope that. But with the amount gushing out every day and the damn dispersants they are spraying...I can't see there won't be an effect.

Worked at the hospital on Stock Island part time and partied and fished the rest of the time. Some of my most fond memories are of Key West.
