The ads are running 3-4 times per hour.

Pure Michigan versus dead and dying Gulf wildlife, tarballs, and Blackwater-type beach "security." Don't forget the *live* video from what's left of the well head.

This has to be the most effective ad placement ever.

1. Those Michigan ads have been on the air in this market for at least 6 months
Long before the spill.

It's called making hay while the sun shines--or should that be "while the oil shines?"

5. The very first time that I visited a small-town on the Lake Michigan coastline
in NW lower Michigan with my younger brother was when we were ages 8 and 6 respectively in July of 1964, and we both went down to their public beach, and were greeted with a couple of waterlogged and ragged sailboat bunk mattresses bobbing in the shallow water near the shore, with the batting coming out of them. There was also the stench of thousands of dead alewifes in the water and onshore, that got into the Great Lakes as a result of the creation of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

I was exposed to the stinking results of man-caused marine habitat changes, and water pollution at a very young age. It made an indelible impression on me, and I have tried to limit my own contribution to landfills and carbon "footprint" as much as I could over the years.

6. They are showing these in Florida also
Edited on Sat Jun-19-10 10:56 AM by HockeyMom
I live on the Gulf Coast. Ironic? Especially given that many of the transplants here ARE from Michigan. California is also running a lot of "visit California ads" for beaches, seafood, etc. Again, ironic being shown on the Gulf of Florida?????

Get out of Florida seems to be the theme. BTW, I am on vacation right now back "home" on Long Island.
