David Shuster and Ron Reagan Jr?
The return of voices like this would be encouraging, but not enough to challenge the dominant position of mainstream media, which is little more than a well funded propaganda plume, spewing the corporate sponsored message. There's got to be a devoted bunch of bolts and nuts in the structure of a more publicly driven and independent media if democracy itself is to have a chance to prevail.
Strange as it may sound, the first sentence in your cartoon is actually close to the way it is supposed to be. Balance and attribution are safeguards in a sense, get and include both sides of an argument. If the writer has an opinion, the editorial section is where it can be expressed. I don't see these principles in play as the job is applied to millions of TV screens and talking heads.
