Can right wingers spout ANYTHING but prepared talking points?
Edited on Thu Jul-15-10 11:50 AM by marmar
A caller to Thom Hartmann just called to talk about how inefficient public bureaucracies:

"Social Security is insolvent" - Thom destroys the talking point with facts about how SS would be fine for 30 yrs if nothing's done to it, and benefits could be raised if the cap was extended just a little.
The caller sat there in dumbfounded silence, making a few grunts and moving on to.......

"Well, what about Medicare and Medicaid?" - Thom rolls out more facts, talking about how Medicare has 3 percent overhead, compared to 30 percent at for-profit insurance companies.
More, "well, umm, uhh" from the caller.

I swear these people wouldn't even have the talking points to call the shows and sound dumb with if it weren't for Faux. Complete drones, devoid of any original thought.

1. Why should they? Their talking points are working too well for them.
:(

5. Exactly
It's not like the highly paid, well-coiffed "talent" in front of the cameras at the major media outlets ever have a fact rolling around in their empty little heads to contradict whatever falls out of some troll's mouth. Besides, I'm sure it would be considered very bad form to show up their cocktail party companions. But get behind some meaningless talking point, and the high dudgeon quickly degenerates into a less coherent form of "humina, humina, humina."

2. And he'll forget that info 5 minutes after the call.
... Then repeat it to someone else, as if he never heard it.

3. Oh, they can change the subject real quick, too.
They love mixing apples and oranges, or bringing in something completely out of left field, like supporting the troops.

We can certainly thank the Republicans for screwing around with numbers as in mixing the per year amount with the amount total over a certain number of years.

4. Oh, they can say things that aren't talking points, BUT when they do,
they put their feet (usually both of them) firmly down their throat! Think Rand Paul, Ms. Angle in Nv., & the Queen of them all...Sarah!
