I think most of us know that the last eighteen months have been very difficult for Keith Olbermann. He lost both of his parents, and a few friends as well.

His remarkable tribute to his mother, Marie Olbermann, garnered him an Emmy Nomination, and I think it is well-deserved. The tribute was wistful, funny, and beautiful, and it made me cry. Looking at today's Twitter feed, I can see I'm not alone.(http://www.emmyonline.tv/mediacenter/news_31st_nominations.html)

Than he would do in the Senate!

Besides, NY state, (where he lives), has dozens of great liberals.

Rachel, for honesty and clarity in reporting!

18. I love him.
And that was a beautiful tribute he did for his mom. I don't always agree with him, but let me tell you, I will NEVER forget him, because he was there when almost noone else was during the Bush years. He had courage - and after watching his beautiful memorial to his mom, I know where it comes from. I hope he wins. He deserves it - if not for this, for the many other things he's done over the years. Again, LOVE HIM.

19. Here's a direct link to his story:

Keith's mother reminds me of my grandmother. While she didn't have the passion about baseball that Marie did, she and I would watch the game on NBC every Saturday afternoon on her little tiny TV. We rooted for the teams that had Okies on them--the Yankees and the Reds especially. Several years ago I had the incredible experience of meeting Bobby Mercer at a charity thing where I was volunteering. I was flabbergasted to meet him, and all I could think was, "I wish Grandma was here."

Congratulations to Keith--you deserve it, buddy.

25. My grandma was old fashioned, she'd listen on the radio.
U didn't realize until she retired and turned it on while puttering around the house that she had such a passion fir baseball. I thought it was weird to listen to the radio rather than watch it on tv, but nostalgia of listening to the radio from an era when tv didn't exist and the radio linked you tongue players and the fame. To watch it unfold in your mind made the game simpler. Not about high paid pros and fancy parkways. It was a way of bringing simplicity back into the world like she had as a child. She lived during a time of major technological change. She experienced indoor plumbing, electricity, phones, tv, microwaves, computers. It's wild to think about how much has developed during the last 100 yrs.
