3. Had an iPhone 4 since launch and never had a problem about it.
People just love to complain and whine. :/

8. Or write comic blurbs...?
"People just love to complain and whine."
Or simply write comic blurbs mocking a bit of pop culture...?

(On the other hand, I imagine a pop culture sacred cow is getting mocked, then yeah-- it can be nothing other than complaints and whines...)

4. Don't Want It
Don't need it. All I need a cell phone to do is complete calls. You want all the latest bells and whistles, pay for them. I have no desire to keep up with the in crowd. Go up on the internet, I use a laptop. Guess that's why we're still using a 50" rear projection television that we bought 25 years ago.

5. A woman I work with just got one and when she calls you it sounds like she's
wrapped three towels around her mouth before she made the call. The volume is fine, but you can't understand a single word she's saying. It's bizarre.

17. No, wait, let me guess: too much transcoding.
"Hello, will you be available this thursday evening?" --> aLaw --> g729 --> iLBC --> uLaw --> gsm --> uLaw --> aLaw --> g729 --> "Vnvn, vnn vn vn vnnnvn vn vnvn vnnvn?"

Yep, I worked VoIP a lot.

19. I wrote ops users' guides for a proprietary network management package
The memory that this triggers is when they were trying to bring certain switches into Netcool to create a work-around for "the last mile" issue (which had gone against them in the most recent FCC decision). I was doing release management and watching those engineers, over the period of a week, fight a losing migration battle with the wrong kind of switches. Most people think programmers can do ANYTHING if they just get the code right. That's not true. There wasn't anything they could do. The big layoffs started not long after that.

11. Actually, I think he's holding it the one way that doesn't work

Funny, and fair enough to criticize Apple and mock a genuine manufacturing issue, but the haters are getting a bit carried away with the lawsuits and gloating. It's a little silly to pretend that the iPhone is a terrible smartphone when literally every other competitor on the market is based on copying the original iPhone.

12. I suppose that an iPhone is worthwhile for those who need it
Edited on Fri Jul-16-10 11:23 AM by Urban Prairie
for business-related projects and work, they are young with a large circle of close friends and associates, use it to listen to music stored on it, and/or they have a "need" to go online while away from home, but for me a basic subscription-less Tracfone is all I need now, to make simple (and brief) phone calls. I can also use sms to text friends and family for free on Gmail and Yahoo! mail using my home computer, to avoid using up minutes on my cellphone as well.

I had a Nokia cellphone with an AT&T subscription about four years ago that I used to go online to check my email since I was an active seller on eBay, but once my two year subscription expired, and I had stopped auctioning items on eBay, I no longer really needed it. It had a small but very functional qwerty keyboard included. The viewing screen was pretty damn small though.

My 3G was perfectly fine before the OS4 "upgrade", now it is so slow and crashy that it is virtually unusable.
