To be able to do battle with the smears and lies from the right. If nothing changes, this kind of crap will happen again and again.

2. That's merely a REactive strategy

I can tell you as a former Republican/Libertarian that only a proactive strategy against the RW hate machine will have any real effect. A real media war room would actually look for ways to demolish FOX News, not build up another wall of sandbags.
