MO Marine mom needs our help — son facing possible redeployment after he & mom protest in DC
http://www.insteadofwar.org/site/weblog.php). Tina and Cloy are friends of ours and so many others. We all rode and marched together this past weekend and came away feeling energized and optimistic. Now they need our help. evl>

Tina Richards and her Marine son Cloy need your help for them and for all families being destroyed by this war. Cloy served two horrific tours in Iraq (read/listen here) and now is back home in Salem MO, attending college, rebuilding his life. Tina and Cloy, with many hundreds of other active military families and veterans, were in the forefront of Saturday's huge peace march in Washington DC. The Marines want to redeploy Cloy, and it is still unclear whether they will succeed, given his medical conditions.

On Tuesday, Tina barnstormed Congress, interrupting the Senate Judiciary Committee's hearing establishing Congress' constitutional right to limit or end the Iraq war. Read/listen to Tina here on NPR and here in NY Times and here on KWTX and here from MFSO.

Starting Wednesday, she will be insisting on meeting with every member of the Senate and House Defense Appropriation Sub-Committees, to push them to cut off funding for the war.

She's asking each of us to contact each of these Senators and Representatives (details at the end of this article) to ask them to meet with this Marine mom and to end funding for the Iraq war.

Also, Tina needs our financial support so that she can stay in DC and keep fighting to defend her son and his comrades and end the war. She is staying with other military families but her budget is running on empty. Details at the end of this article More...

4. Here's the deal.
He was wounded during his first tour and sent back for another. He has PTSD and the VA is overloaded and underfunded. He has an honorable discharge. He volunteered before the Ass in Chief was selected. How much does he have to volunteer for?

6. If he
has been discharged, how can he be deployed again. Was he reactivated from Inactive Reserve Status?

7. Yes.
It happened to my youngest brother, too, during Desert Storm. Luckily for him and many others, that one stopped short of total lunacy. It was mere partial lunacy.

11. Floridians, here are the contact people for Nelson and Martinez
Here are the two contact people in Senators Nelson and Martinez' office for the Armed Services Committee:

Sen. Nelson - Jeff Benson
Sen. Martinez - David Brown

ask to speak with them, you might get their voice mail. Tell that you want the Senators to meet with Tina, if they support the troops as they say they do.

By talking to Jeff and David, your message has a better chance of reaching the Senators than just leaving a message with the receptionist.

This is the least we can do for Tina. Remember these Senators work for us, not the other way around.

I will call again today, since she obviously didn't get her meeting yesterday.

13. It is time for the troops to support themselves
and follow Lt. Watada's leadership. I wish these people the best. The young man has to say no if he wants to live.
