Tea Party Comix, Fred Phelps - Where's our superheroes when we need them to seek out revenge?

This week saw yet another issue of Tea Party Comix, an incredibly racist underground comic book series that depicts Obama as a Communist Supervillian doing battle with the good guys.

In an odd coincidence, this all happened just as Fred Phelps of the hyper-conservative Westboro Baptist Church decided that America needed to be saved from its worship of false idols -- namely, comic book heroes.

All this focus on conservatives and comic books got us fantasizing that our favorite superheroes might just show up and take on the conservatives en masse.

Just a weekend diversion, but it is kind of fun to match superheroes with today's super villains.

Let's see what the DU gang comes up with!

He's had fundraisers for Al Gore and other prominent Democrats. He may be ugly, but he's one of ours.

I'm not sure, but I've been told that the 'Democratic' in 'Democratic Underground' stands for ... um ... 'Democratic'. Yeah, I think I've seen that mentioned once or twice.

So, should we ask Skinner to create a Fred Phelps Group? I'm sure as soon as people hear he's a Democrat, it'll be swarmed with members.

I was reading them in the 60's. Don't know when they stopped, but Turok couldn't have gone on very long. Your copies may be worth something today if they're in decent condition (you haven't been thumbing through them lately while eating PB&J, have you? lol).

Captain America can uncover their treasonous actions toward, well, America

Any one of the dozens of superheros with super senses could violate their privacy

As could any one with shape shifting abilities or invisibility

Thor could rain on their parade (or Storm, etc.)

Spiderman could point out that with power comes responsibility

Hawkman could keep an eye on them

The Black Canary could give them an ear full

Apache Chief could point out the horrors of stereotyping (no wait, that is for the creators of Apache Chief, disregard. Maybe Haji from Johnny Quest, no that won't work either.)
