I bet you'd have put down Al Gore and maybe, just maybe John Kerry. Or maybe even Hillary. The man who is currently sitting in the White House was a very obscure Illinois State Senator.

I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say that whoever winds up being the nominees six years from now are people none of us are thinking about now, and possibly even people none of us have ever heard of.

Considering the guys we elected in 1992 and 2008 - the ones who were "unknowns" until the DNC convention which preceded their own campaigns - both failed to live up to their campaigns, maybe next time we need someone with an actual track record we can look at.

I'd certainly consider voting for Dennis if he were on the ballot, in fact I was planning on supporting him in the 2008 caucus, but he had already dropped out by then. Between him and Dean though, I would probably have to go with the good Doctor.

Fucking Rahm Emanuel is too fucking closely tied to the Obama and Clinton administrations for comfort--whether he's any good is beside the point because you know Repukes can tear down anyone--look what they did to Max Cleland!--and all the pukes have to do with Dean is show that "scream" video over and over and over to paint him as some kind of maniac.

Sanders is an Independent so we can't get him, but Franken's been doing a really good job and I think he could win the big one. And after eight years he would probably go right back to the Senate and keep on keepin' on.

And I'm not basing that only on the historical precedent either. So while this is a little off the topic, I would encourage Al Franken, Anthony Weiner, Alan Grayson, or any other decent Democrat currently in either house of Congress, who may want to move into the White House one day, to get elected governor in their home state. (or lobby for the VP job, if Joe Biden ends up not being there in 2012 for whatever reason.)

And since I saw Jay Inslee referenced in a previous post, I'd encourage him especially to run for governor in 2012. Gregoire isn't going to run for a third term, and it would be a great time for him to do so.
