Minn. Man Convicted In Toyota Crash To Get Hearing

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) ― A St. Paul man is getting a hearing to determine whether he deserves a new trial for a Toyota crash that killed three people.

The hearing before Ramsey County District Judge Joanne Smith is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday and could last a couple days or more.

Thirty-two-year-old Koua Fong Lee was convicted of criminal vehicular homicide and sentenced to eight years in prison for the 2006 crash, which killed three people and injured two others.

Lee maintains he did everything he could to stop his 1996 Camry. The defense plans to present evidence that's emerged in recent months about problems with sudden unintended acceleration in Toyotas, and with evidence from a re-inspection of the wreckage showing Lee was trying to brake.

1. Why would a 10 year old car (at the time) that had a mechanical pedal/throttle go balls-out nutz?
It wouldn't.

Next.

2. Perhaps you missed a few things

His car was recalled for acceleration problems before the accident. After the car was inspected (still in the impound) a few months ago, experts showed the throttle was STILL locked open. They also found the brake light filament was on at the time of impact. Those 3 things alone should get him a new trial.

I thought by now everybody knew these things about this case. Look in LBN.
