Paul leads Conway in latest Senate poll

A week before the traditional start of the fall campaign in Kentucky, Republican Rand Paul leads Democrat Jack Conway by eight percentage points in the U.S. Senate race, according to the latest Courier-Journal/WHAS11 Bluegrass Poll.

5. Old, questionable numbers that do not reflect the reason

the dullard Rand Paul is leading. MSM starts every discussion of the Kentucky Senatorial race with the 2 words ' Rand Paul '. Do you know his opponent without looking it up? His name is JACK CONWAY and he is the Democrat we are hoping can take evil doer Bunning's seat. If the DNC would spend some money here this time we may win.

7. The media in Kentucky is disgustingly Rep also

You can find VERY little, especially on the radio, that resembles news or political discussion in Kentucky that isn't decidedly Republican and especially favoring the "angry white male being robbed" point of view. It is absolutely disgusting, even sports shows get into right wing politics. Propaganda is horrific here in Kentucky. And the hold the churches have on voters (and the big corporate interests have on the churches) is especially appalling. People default Republican because of "social issues". It is sickening, but may not tell the whole tale. This election is a long way from being done.

8. If we could just one time see an article or broadcast on

MSM that started with Jack Conway instead of the carpetbagging Paul it would sure help. For that matter if we could even see that on DU it would help. It seems to me that some DU folks would rather make cute jokes at Kentucky's expense rather than help the situation. (Not you Lib2) We could use help from the DNC. RE: Fancy Farm this weekend where Jack Conway will be speaking. The Repubs speaker line up is more infamous than the list the Dems have BUT rumor on the street is that Bubba is going to show. The AP is also reporting this afternoon that both Conway and his Republican opponent, Rand Paul, will speak at Fancy Farm, which is set for Aug. 7.

Other speakers include Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo, who lost to Conway in the May 18 primary, and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell of Louisville, who endorsed Paul’s primary opponent, Secretary of State Trey Grayson of Boone County.
Eric Cantor to speak to the Republicans at breakfast at another venue in Graves Co. before picnic starts.

9. KY Has A 10.1% UE Rate and They're Going To Elect Someone Who Will Cut Off Their Benefits

Amazing. Simply amazing. Americans are the only people in a democracy that repeatedly vote against their own economic interest because of some other factor like social issues or race.

They will deny themselves benefits just because they don't want Gays to marry. It's unbelievable.

12. Even If You Do Turn It Around

In a state like KY where so many people are dependent on that UE benefits check, a candidate like Paul shouldn't even be polling as high as he is. He shouldn't even be considered a top candidate.

These people are literally voting the food off of their table.

13. Well, Y4, that's what we are trying to do. One thing about

KY politics that people don't talk about is how the Democratic Party lost KY( actually still a lot more registered Dems than Repubs about 57% to 37% ). Except for the old KY 5th where I come from, Ky was a yellow dog Democratic state for generations. The KY Democrats in power became rather entrenched and greedy and crooked. I think DINO was born here. The people grew tired of it and the dirty repubs took advantage of single issue voters. As Get the Red Out said above about the churches is so true too. The evangelicals should all lose tax exempt status. Lots of electioneering is going on from the skypilots on the pulpit.

sense because that is his base. His message of selfishness resonates with them.

It should be brought out that Paul has already shown that he's just another flip-flopping, crony-prone politician.

Let's not forget he hired Jess Benton, husband of one of his nieces, as campaign manager.

Plus he's already flip-flopping on McConnell and the Republican "establishment" he swore he'd fight. Earlier he said if elected he couldn't vote for Mitch as Senate leader but now he's brown-nosing Mitch with enthusiasm. plus it was only a matter of days after the primary that he accepted money from a Republican Senatorial group he swore he'd have nothing to do with.

Much of Paul's early support came from Tea Party/Ron Paul types. If they could see the truth they'll probably stay home. Heck, Paul even had PNAC founding member Jeb Bush come up here and stump for him.

Weaken the base and the whole Paul house of cards comes crashing down.
