CNN live just now - AP gets Helen Thomas' seat in White House Briefing Room

Ed Henry is on and discussing with Rick Sanchez the choice of who takes the front row center seat that had belonged to Helen Thomas. Ed Henry said Fox News got to move up, and Rick Sanchez asked, "Doesn't it have to be a NEWS organization to have that seat?"

The upshot is that instead of giving the seat directly to Fox News, the press group moved the senior AP reporter to the Helen Thomas seat and Fox gets the old AP seat.

The seat traditionally goes to the most senior news organization or reporter. AP fits that bill. Faux on the other hand really does not qualify, as Rick Sanchez said.

I missed most of what Ed Henry and the woman news person on set said to cover for Rick's comment - I was laughing and cheering too loudly.
