What's with people posting, "There's a lot of folks like that here on DU"?

I've seen that reply a lot to recent posts I've made citing the odd/objectionable behaviors of right wings types.

So, why can't the people who post that shit just sack-up and mention SPECIFIC types of things they have a problem with? Why the passive aggressive bullshit sniping? (And yes, I realize this post may come across rather ironically since it may seem to be in the same vein.)

2. Okay, maybe I should make my example more concrete.

I posted earlier today that it's frustrating dealing with conservatives because of their denial of reality. And of course, someone (I don't even remember who) replied, "Sounds like a lot of people here on DU".

Actually, what it SOUNDED like is that poster had a personal axe to grind and didn't have the balls to mention it specifically.

But, who am I to say?

And you can't mention them specifically, because they're hypersensitive gits who ride the alert button like it's some sort of game to them.

Personally, I hate the fact that there are so many wealth apologists and thinly disguised supply side types on DU who absolutely cannot stand any kind of thinking that suggests giving "undeserving" people access to the basic necessities of life. For those who think there aren't hordes of them on DU, open up a thread advocating a guaranteed minimum income which is not tied to employment. Just try it and see what happens.

and they 'deserve' being rich and we should be glad they let their money trickle down to us.

6. It's like this...

Making blanket statements such as the one you cited, is supposed to lend credence to someones, otherwise crazy, statement.

If someone writes, "I think all orangutans are racist!". One would think, that person is crazy.

However, if someone writes, "Many people here on DU think that all orangutans are racist!". Then the concept of a "movement" or the perception of general thinking on this concept is the norm and if you disagree with the odd assertion, then you are not only the minority but also an outcast from the larger group.

It's an old bullshit mind trick to puff up the originators ego, lend credence to their stupidity and a vein attempt to try to gather other like minded morons.

But don't believe me, MANY PEOPLE ON DU BELIEVE THIS! :rofl:
