He's a spineless coward.

Who would you nominate for Majority Leader?

I'll give you a darkhorse nomination: Future Sen-elect Andrew Romanoff (D-Colorado)

He has the leadership skills and can vice grip the Republicans to cowering on THEIR end instead of us.

But, will gladly nominate Sen. Al Franken (D-MN)

2. Romanoff wouldn't get enough votes. Has any brand new Senator ever become majority leader?
However, I do agree with you about replacing Reid. I would take a lot of people over him, just not Schumer, who badly wants the job.

3. Since I believe Reid is the most inept senator, any replacement would be good.
If you're the worst, then giving anyone else the job would be an improvement. Reid, the former boxer, is a coward. I wonder what is fighting record was? And when he was 'fighting' did he go up to his opponent and compromise instead of fighting him?

14. Durbin is the one who has a realistic shot and someone I could live with as Majority Leader.

4. I would like to hitch my wagon to that pony and hope
for a Democrat for President in 2012 as well.

I don't see either happening though.

5. Franken is the only one I can think of.....
..who would lead in an intelligent, strong willed, and principled manner. Literally he is the only Senator I feel comfortable saying that about.

The rest all for somewhere on the spectrum of spineless. Maybe some have a semblance of a very soft backbone but still stand upright, but far too many others are completely worthless jellyfish, including Reid.

6. John Kerry?
I know, I know, he let himself get swiftboated -- but maybe he learned something from that.

7. No...
..granted he doesn't fall all the way to the full jellyfish end of the spectrum. But he's not even close to someone who I would trust to stand up in a way that needs to happen.

17. Franken hasn't been there long enough yet.
He needs to learn more of the ropes and make more tighter connections with the other senators
The job of majority leader isn't for newbies.

11. It couldn't get worse
I think the names many of us would like, wouldn't necessarily be effective, mostly because they haven't built the power bases to do so. It is a "thankless" job and has more to do with moving other peoples bills forward than working to move the bills you want forward. I'm dubious Franken, Sanders, Feingold or some of the others would be all that interested. I don't know about Kerry, and I don't know how effective he could be. Probably couldn't be worse though, and might have some "scores" to settle on the other side of the aisle.

12. Well, since you don't have fuck all to say about it, the next...
Majority Leader will be chosen by the Senators in the majority.

Just like always.

16. "If" we retain the Senate?
You really see us losing nine seats with no pickups (e.g. Conway is in a dead heat with Randroid Paul in KY)?
