Jane Doe and our cats.
We have a doe that's attached herself to our house. She's always alone, which is unusual in that we occasionally have deer wander through the property but always in groups. We've dubbed her Jane Doe and become used to seeing her lying in our back yard close to the house. As I write, she's standing on our deck about 5 feet from the netted enclosure we let our cats "out" to languish in. Coyotes like snacks. She's eying as if she's looking for potential friends.

Just thought I'd share something nice.

4. Quite calmly. She's become, as I said, a familiar resident.
They're not nearly as excited as when a chipmunk or squirrel scampers by.

We have a lot of deer going through the condo townhouse property where we live, and very rarely do they travel alone. There is one doe with her fawn that likes to graze on the side of my house and she also likes to nibble on the leaves of our pear tree. :)

EnJoy your Jane! :)

9. Check your cats for ticks...
...if they're not already well-protected. As much as I loved seeing deer in the yard, I knew what critters they brought along.

12. Jane's cousins cost me a few hundred bucks this year
The deer got into our veggie garden and ate almost everything above ground level. They don't seem to be deterred by the dogs barking at them, or even the coyotes that sometimes hang around, so we had to fence the entire garden area.

The fence doesn't keep out the gophers however.

17. Deer and coyotes got to make a livin' too.
At least our attitude towards the deer when they eat our plants and the outdoor enclosure is in answer to coyote snacks.

The dog ensures that.

I'd love to see pics!

22. I have a red tail boa
She's 6 feet long,16 years old, Kali is her name, she is the sweetest snake ever,I hold her for a few hours everyday, she helps me relax she gives a great massage, she seems to know when my back hurts and moves herself there and flexes her muscles, she has the prettiest rainbow iridescence on her beautiful boa patterned scales. She loves my kitties and they love her too, I am not kidding here. They get happy to see each other.Tonight as I watched Olberman, I had my two cats on my lap,on the right side my pretty little guy made into a catterfly, in my sig,Sparkle, and my other was big white cat, Bear was sitting on the left ..and Kali was sitting beside me, close to me, part of her lower body was coiled up under my furry throw, part of her was on my belly, than her upper body curved around draped along my thighs, with her head resting right on the crest of my kneecap.Kali's body intersected and her head was laying right between my two cats heads. Kali would flash her tongue out, watching the TV flickering . My cats were purring up a storm and would touch her in reply to her tongue and head caresses with their noses and gentle paw pats on her coils on my legs as I pet all three of my sweet ones, and they were so content. All four of us were taking up the whole couch all wound around together relaxing watching TV. I'd love to get a pic but I have no one to take it of us.It's not like I can get up to take a pic with two cats and a 6 foot snake on me blissed out without messing up the serene scene. I love them so much.
