There are plenty of transportation privileges afforded to senators, so if you see a member of the Upper Chamber on your flight, chances are they'll be in the front of the plane. But not Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.).

Franken was spotted near the back of his direct flight from Minneapolis, Minn., to D.C. on Monday, sitting in a Coach class window seat just like a regular guy.

The lawmaker was wearing his trademark glasses, a blue dress shirt and a blazer (no airplane track suit for Franken). According to a source, Franken snoozed for most of the flight.

Passengers sitting around him didn't make a big deal about the VIP, and neither did the airline employees. Said a fellow traveler, "I don't know if he wasn't recognized or if Minnesotans are just too polite."

I don't fly first and probably never will. Hell I don't even fly the majors any more, I stick to the LCC's- Jetblue, Southwest, Frontier, Airtran, Midwest, and so on.

6. Not to detract from Al, but neither does SOI Ken Salazar.

I flew back to Denver with him on Frontier. They have no first class seats. Salazar is being blamed for the oil gusher in the Gulf. So flying coach is no real liberal credentials.

But I will admit that ~10 hours into a flight from California to Hong Kong, I'd sell my own granny for a little more legroom.
