3. In theory we have.
In practice, rather less so due to the ineptitude of Congressional Democratic leadership.

2. He was co-chair of the committee
Neither Party has a majority on that committee. It's a 50-50 split of members.

So, he feels he has the creds to run his mouth now.

4. Why is it a 50-50 split?
Edited on Tue Aug-03-10 10:02 PM by Lord Magus
Congress itself certainly doesn't have a 50-50 split. I was under the impression that committees were supposed to reflect the composition of Congress, with the majority party always having a majority in each committee.

7. Not this committee. Here's something from Wiki
"The committee has an equal number of members from each party, unlike the rest of the committees, which are constituted with the majority of members and the committee chair coming from the party that controls the House. This even split has limited its power by giving either political party an effective veto over the actions of the committee."

10. The problem is that there is no "we". If you think there is a we Democrats you havent
been paying attention. Democrats are divided between the "we the people" Democrats and the DLC "we the corporate lovers". It appears to me that the corporate Democrats have control of the party. Heaven plez helps us.
