It's beautiful how the decision to hire Michael Steele has backfired badly on the GOP

They hired him because, in the wake of Obama's landslide victory, they wanted to shout "Hey! Look over here! We're diverse too!!!"


So they hired one of the few black politicians that is actually a registered Republican, but they didn't bother to make sure he was competent.



Now they're stuck. They're afraid of the media firestorm that will come when they fire him... but they also see that he's wrecking the RNC and they can't tolerate him anymore.


They've tried pressuring him to resign, but he keeps flipping them off.


If we wanted to infiltrate the RNC and put in place someone who could destroy it from within, we couldn't have picked a better person.



Oh... eventually it will become too much for the Republican leaders to stand anymore and they'll fire him. But they don't want to lose a handful of news cycles this close to an election, so they'll wait until after November 2nd.


In their minds, they are so close to regaining the House they can smell it.


But they've got a big, bald, black albatross around their necks and they can't figure out a way to get rid of it that won't hurt them politically.

He's been a great comfort to me.

5. I agree that Steele is an albatross, but Palin is a bigger one.

She'll be pulling attention away from whoever they really want to run... They turned her on and now can't shut her up.

Just ask Rove and the REAL repub money folks. The shadow rnc is raking in the money hand over fist. They'll dictate the message and the media this cycle.
Steele will be replaced immediately after the election.

he could be looked at as being effective at getting out their vote. Obviously, Democrats staying home is helping him look good.

There's just something wrong with somebody who comes to rest at the level of finding meaning is being a Wingnut. And it goes back to one of the Eternal Questions, "Why would ANY minority member---Hispanic, Black, Gay, women--- ever BE a wingnut?" And this is just crystallized when both things ----the minority side and the Anybody side----come together in the same package.
