Nut-Meg Down
'Anyone who has endured the endless negative TV ads from the GOP nominee knows the extent to which Nag Whitman has tried to buy the California Governor's chair.

Well, according to Public Policy Polling, six months and over one hundred million dollars later, she isn't making it. Worse yet, she is getting beat by someone who has probably spent less money on his entire campaign than Whitman has spent on post-it notes and highlighters.

I heard the nickname Nut-Meg on a right wing radio station today - a joke to her own party. I hope the name sticks.

5. Boxer has 3-5 points in all the recent polls
I can't imagine losing Boxer. It would be a huge loss for California.

6. Her nomination was a GOP forfeit
To think that anyone could actually take her seriously as a candidate, LOL. Another female CEO who never lived up to her hype, she and Fiorina are two peas in a pod.

7. Your OP header had me worried - I thought maybe Di Feinstein,
Edited on Wed Aug-04-10 12:39 AM by truedelphi
Buoyed by her recent success in banning marijuana brownies, had now gone ahead and banned nutmeg (If you take enough, you get a slightly psychedelic rush. And in high enough doses, it can kill a person.)

Glad to see this OP is just about a nickname for 98 million dollar ad meister, Meg.

9. Made me lol.
After the brownies I wouldn't be surprised by anything out of DiFi. Even before the brownies. There was a time, IIRC, when she had some democratic values. I've seen zero out of her in a long time.

10. Last I saw, Jerry had spent something like $377,000
Meg is up to nearly $100 milion (including the primary).

One of our fellow DUers dubbed Whitman "Megabuck$" (and I'm sorry I can't remember who it was to give credit).

As a Californian, I have two election priorities: Boxer and Brown. And I'm more confident than ever that we'll succeed in electing both.

As much as we decry corporatism, and the influence of big money in politics, I think we're about to prove the exception to the rule in CA.

11. I think Brown's tactic reeks of stupidity.
Many people who are in their twenties (and even thirties) don't know who Brown is. And maybe they don't know that he is running.

When confronted with a ballot listing names, non-political people vote for whomever's name they have heard more often.

12. Jerry Brown is a very experienced politician...
...I think he knows what he's doing.

People in California are already getting sick of Nut Meg's ads, and the press has been making note of the fact that she says one thing in her broad-based ads that are aimed at the general population, while saying another thing altogether in targeted ads such as the Spanish ads she has run. People are starting to notice.

In terms of name recognition, people remember the ads more the closer they get to the election. So the next 3 months I presume he will be ramping up with his $23M war chest. I hope he makes some hay out of her many "inconsistencies".

Jerry Brown will be a great governor, again. California is fortunate that he is running. Here's hoping he prevails.

Six word sound byte- "Meg Whitman, such an ass!"

Short and to the point.
