Sen. Jefferson Beuregard Sessions III questions Kagan's intelligence
Beyond that, few surprises from Republicans. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III spent a great deal of time questioning Kagan's intelligence (“I believe she does not have the gifts and the qualities of mind or temperament that one must have to be a justice,” ahem), and lying about Kagan's tenure as Dean of Harvard Law School and the school's policy toward military recruiters.

And then there was old reliable Ben Nelson who expressed his "concerns" about Kagan. He's going to be a conservative to the end (likely he will be Lincolnized in '12)" just not been able to give people comfort," Nelson said. "The calls have been running -- there's a constituency not to vote for her. There's not a strong constituency to vote for her."

10. Kagan was picked because she has no accomplishments or record to criticize.
I won't question her intelligence, but her credentials are thin on the ground indeed.

11. I don't know if he was around
but did he ask Thomas that question. He surely was when Roberts and Alitio were appointed and if there was a definite lack of intelligence those three have it.
