since 2000 the republicans have come out for repealing the amendment that gave women the vote. Ron Paul was for the repeal of the amendment that gave us the federal income tax, he wants a federal sales tax amendment, and now they are talking about the 14th amendment. I think that if they get in power they will repeal the ones they really hate. I think if the republicans got permanent power they would go back to only men get the vote and only property owners get to vote. That way they cut out all those stupid socialist type voters

4. Clarity injection needed on 14th Amendment

The 14th Amendment doesn't do what many of us liberals think it does. They claim that the 14th Amendment guarantees American Citizenship to anyone born on US soil. That is patently untrue.

• Children born to tourists visiting the US are not granted citizenship.
  
  
• Children born to foreign diplomats working here are not granted citizenship.
  

The reverse is also true. Our men and women in uniform serving overseas as well as our diplomats overseas have children in foreign lands yet the children are automatically given US citizenship. My daughter was born overseas and she's every bit the US citizen as you or I.

One thing that is often missed as well is that Hispanics who are US citizens also do not want illegal immigration and do not want automatic citizenship for children of illegals. Even they understand that unchecked illegal immigration serves only to further corporate greed and depress wages. In short, they are among the Americans who are losing jobs to the illegals.

Who among us wants millions of people streaming across our borders. With the economy in the tank we are being hurt more now by corporate greed than ever before and the desire of some for cheap labor made up exclusively of people who are always frightened to open their mouth and never, ever, disagree with the boss is why they hire illegals in the first place. Please look at the bigger picture. The illegals are being made the scapegoat in all this. The real enemies are the companies who hire the illegals and, in so doing, hurt the American economy by taking jobs away from hard working Americans.

For the record, I hate that the psycho right are taking this position on this issue. But that should not change the facts. Facts are important. Lack of facts and truth is one reason why we all hate the psycho right. Let's not fall into the same trap of either ignoring facts or, worse, touting outright lies of our own.
