You know, all the banking shenanigans that have gone on over the years really got to me. I've been with a credit union for 20 years and took for granted fast, courteous phone and on-line service, the great car/mortgage deals and actually recognizing some of the folks on the rare occasions when I'd drop in. My very senior dad mentioned to me months ago he had a CD with Bank of America. It wasn't all that much, but it represented a nice secure nest egg.
He had never belonged to a credit union, so imagine my surprise when he announced his CD had matured and he wanted to transfer it to my credit union! He reads the N.Y. Times religiously and watches Keith and Rachel nightly and came to the conclusion he wanted to take his business elsewhere.
Today was the day, and after the transactions, he said, "I'm so proud to have dumped B of A - it's almost as good as voting!" :applause:
