Military dogs save thousands of lives, spend their lives in training and service till they "retire"...if they are not adopted, most are "euthanized"!!!

Link is to USWardogs.org site, with information on the dogs, how to send them care packages and hoe to adopt one as he is about to "retire"...

Link: http://www.uswardogs.org/

The site has lots of flags and such, but please get past that and find out about these dogs who can be great pets after their service.
There are pics and stories of adopted dogs and their families - please look at them.
To me it is terrible that these dogs are routinely killed after serving for their entire lives...we will be looking into adopting one in the future.

Thank you for your attention to this.

1. Great cause..
I hope someone will volunteer to help them redesign that site, which is fairly horrendous to navigate. Is there somewhere on there that says how one can adopt these dogs? If there was, I surely could not find it, though perhaps spending hours might reveal....

further down are stories on adopted dogs that may make you cry.

It is horrible that these dogs are routinely killed.

I remember that thousands of military working dogs were killed when we left Vietnam, and I thought it was a crime...

some improved website design. That place hurts my eyes.

Good cause, though.

4. thank you for this
I'm not in a position at the moment to adopt another one, but I've been thinking about it lately for the future.

I agree, it is terrible that after these dogs give so much that they would throw them away like a used up paper towel. Yet another disgrace in our names.

For people who are looking into it, the site is pretty "busy" to look at and hard to read. The adoption link is about 3/4s of the way down and right here

5. I was in the army during the Vietnam war - I have always thought it was a disgrace that
the military had no regard for these dogs after they had outlived their usefulness - WWII dogs were DONATED, many were pets - after their war service, they were rehabilitated and many were returned to their homes and families. After Vietnam service, the dogs were killed like scrap...and I see that many still are...what a terible thing!
