The "real" reason Republicans hate Barack Obama?

They believe he is a socialist bent on destroying our nation as we know it. Why do they think that??

For a hundred years, since Teddy Roosevelt, Democrats and Progressives have been trying to pass healthcare reform for the people of this country. Roosevelt failed. Truman failed. Clinton failed. And the Republicans rejoiced for a 100 years because they knew they were in control. There would be nothing for the people so long as they could stop it. That is why they hated FDR and why they want to repeal Social Security.

But Obama was able to penetrate their defenses and pass healthcare reform. It may seem very flawed and lacking thru our progressive eyes, but to the Republicans, it was a threat to their very existence. They had lost control of something very important. Only a "socialist" would attempt to pass such a bill for the people of this country. He is a serious and dangerous threat to our way of life. It is corporations and big business that should be calling the shots. He must be destroyed before he does further damage. That is how they look at the black man in the White House.

always had his way. They guy Clinton ran against for and beat for governor. He was the one who spent his money trying to get republicans to impeach Clinton. And second he beat George the First and they had them selves so consumed with the Bush mythology they thought he was unbeatable. The spent 80 million dollars trying to find something to impeach him. I fault Clinton for doing it to himself. All he had to say was YES I HAD SEX WITH THAT WOMAN instead of saying NO I did not have sex. And that would have been that. And then she couldn't get another federal job. OF COURSE SHE BLAMED CLINTON. But he had nothing to do with this, the republicans fired her. 17. I don't think it's any one thing (why they hate him). I DO think part of it is his looks...

he doesn't "look like one of us." Part of it is his heritage. Part of it is his amazing accomplishments in the face of a hard knock life, that puts their accomplishments to shame. Part of it is his raw talent and gift of speech. Part of it is his ability to rouse sentiment among the masses.

And part of it is his ability to get things done. Despite having a lowering approval rating, he has accomplished an amazing number of things these past 2 years, in the face of stalwart, steely-eyed opposition. It truly is amazing. How did he do it? Health reform? Stimulus? Environmental gains on many fronts to a degree not accomplished by any prior President. Electric cars. A resurrected auto manufacturing base. And all of this while thwarting the second Great Depression (which was thwarted...don't you just love that word?).

Part of it is his seemingly moral character (not perfect...there's no halo over his head...but he seems to be a faithful husband, loving father, good friend, hard worker).

Nothing makes the Republicans hate a Democrat than that Democrat's success.

Teddy Roosevelt was always a pain in the GOOP's ass. Popular but a threat to the "establishment". They tried to "ice" him when they made him VP...and the plan backfired when McKinley was assasinated. In short, he was an anomoly in a party that has always represented the vested interests over that of the common man. By the end of his term he had alienated so many in his party few came to his side when he tried to run for the party nomination in 1912 and then went on to form the Progressive party.

The goal of the GOOP is to use the US treaury as a piggy bank for the rich and powerful...and to use the power to protect or expand their privilidge. Anyone who gets in their way is a target of scorn, ridicule, lies and misinformation. The party added the racist element in the 60s (even though it had been there long before) and then the fundies...building a "coalition of the selfish".

President Obama represents every evil meme this party has cultivated for generations...race, class, religion. Doesn't matter if its true, the memes are so intense those who want to believe not only do but stretch it to its limits.

I say he's half in those three areas because he has allowed bipartisanship to water down good bills until they were only half as good as they could have been.
