You know Hitler was a Christian....
I'm wondering if we can allow someone like Glen Beck, who is a self-professed Christian, set up shop, even though it is only for one day, so close to the Lincoln Memorial.

How can we entrust a man who embraces the same religion that obviously was the root cause in the death of millions of people included tens of thousands of Americans free access to such a sacred American monument such as the Lincoln Memorial...

1. As if christians cannot slight themselves
without being connected to hitler. Sorry that bandwagon is full.

Beck is scum so you don't need to trot out hitler to prove that point.

3. It's as ridiculous as the people who equate the radical muslims
who rammed the twin towers with the Americans who want to open A Muslim Center close to the Twin Towers so if it's okay with you, I will stick to my analogy.

11. Perhaps I should have put the sarcasm icon in the post....
I guess so many wild post are posted here now as of late that some have trouble discerning a bit of satire over reality...

10. The comparison might be apt anyways.
Edited on Thu Aug-05-10 11:13 PM by Chan790
Glenn Beck relishes in comparisons to Nazis...he levels such allegations frequently against his political foes and if you have not seen the cover of his latest book, he's dressed in a vaguely Nazi-esque brown military-dress uniform. He thumbs his nose at the insinuation that he's a fascist. He is, of course, a fascist.

25. For sure...
Satire is never enlightening.

I mean what good did Voltaire or Twain or even Mike Royko, Tom Tomorrow and Stephan Colbert do.

Not that I include myself in that austere group but I do defend my right to express myself in satiric form and do not heed your scolding unless it is, of course, satirical in nature...

Sally forth and sow your infertile seeds amongst the wicked. For it is they who will most enjoy such devious banter and reward you with a glorious crop.

Hitler pretty much believed whatever he wanted to, on whim. How many Scotsmen do you know who are that fickle? :)

4. Is saying a person is something the same as being something?

He might have been a Machiavellian, that doctrine teaches people to not believe in anything while saying they do. I think Machiavellianism is a bad doctrine.

:eyes:

Should we prohibit vegetarians from rallying at the Lincoln Memorial too?

And no, Christianity was not "obviously" the root cause of the Holocaust any more than Islam was the root cause of 9/11.

FAIL

I don't like it, but it is for POLITICAL reasons. That said I know I live in a country where yes, even Glenny has a right to that speech. Even if to me is close to yelling fire in a crowded theater, a non protected form of speech.

36. He might have been bapitzed a Christian, but his writings and practices were clearly out of Norse
mythology. In "Mein Kampf", Hitler identifies the Catholic Church in opposition to the goals of Pan-Germanism. In this central theme, the Hitler Youth sang an anthem with the words:

"We are the joyous Hitler youth,
We do not need any Christian virtue
Our leader is our savior
The Pope and Rabbi shall be gone
We want to be pagans once again.”

Hitler only "praised" Christianity for its fanaticism and ability to attract followers:

“The greatness of Christianity did not lie in attempted negotiations for compromise with any similar philosophical opinions in the ancient world, but in its inexorable fanaticism in preaching and fighting for its own doctrine”

For that matter, if we can't entrust Christians standing near the Lincoln Memorial, how can we possibly entrust one to be president. Down with OBAMA!!! :sarcasm:
