Study: Tea Party doesn't like Democrats, but becoming wary of GOP, too
While Tea Party activists are more likely to favor Republicans than Democrats in November's elections, they're increasingly disinclined to affiliate themselves with the GOP, according to a new study by the Sam Adams Alliance.

"Early adopters" – the first to become part of the Tea Party movement – were 81 percent Republican but now only 51 percent identify themselves as part of the GOP, according to a survey of 222 activists.

There was a similar fall-off among "next wave" Tea Party activists, with former Republicans now likely to identify themselves as independents, Libertarians, or as members of the Tea Party.

"This is something very ominous for the Republican Party," said Sam Adams Alliance's Anne M. Sorock. "Republicans may get their vote this time and they may get their vote next time, but Tea Party activists aren't going to help them build their party."

1. Teabaggers are the GOP
Who is it that keeps wanting to separate these goofballs from the Republican party they all belong to?

And why do they keep trying to do it?

They think we are stupid?

2. The conservative media and politicians
Created the Teabaggers, thinking they could control the monster. Now they've lost control and don't know what to do. Schadenfreude.

5. Yup ... its like Frankenstein's monster ...
Although ...

Perhaps they were thinking of the movie Young Frankenstein ... at the end, Frankenstein's monster ends up married to the rich woman, appears to be a partner in her daddy's firm, and is seen sitting in bed reading the Wall Street Journal.

Maybe that's how they seeing this play out.

4. I hope DUers will take note re Independents...
and how teabaggers, etc, are now declaring they are Independent. When the inevitable polls are posted and there is a hue and cry that the Dems are 'losing' the Independents, the Independents they are 'losing' are ones they NEVER had; teabaggers, former repubs, etc.

8. Since the GOP refused to call out their nuttier supporters,
(Rush, Beck, etc), their refusal to challenge psychotalkers reads as silence equaling agreement. This has allowed the drift and racheting up of more outlandish wacko rhetoric and statements to go unchallenged. Now the nutball base is holding their own (the Republicans) to the rhetoric of those hateful POS loudmouths.
Its a spiraling tornado of hatred and insanity.
