Every time I have to read or listen to these bigoted fascists talk, I just get angrier and angrier. Nearly every other public policy debate there is in this country, I can at least see the other side and where they are coming from. I still think they are wrong, but at least they have arguments that I can listen to. The anti-gay movement is just based on stereotypes and hatred. They just flat out don't like gay people. There is no big picture. I know that being a liberal means that I'm supposed to be tolerant of everyone, but I'm going to suspend that for this set of people. I hate these assholes.

1. I hate to disagree, but I have to.
When you come down to brass tacks, pretty much the entire conservative movement is "based on stereotypes and hatred."

2. Well you are supposed to.
That is what this is all about....pitting one against the other and while we fight they take it all away from us.
And they feel just as justified as you do in their hate...that is the beauty of it.

3. Probably a tie for me
the anti-abortion people are pretty high up there for me, too. They hate women and children!

4. Come on, be fair
The conservatives offer a wide array of dishonest over-simplified assholery. Sure, the opponents of same sex marriage are especially annoying, but let's not give short shrift to so many others. Besides, when you say one faction or another is the "worst," it just spurs the rest of them on.

But yeah, the whole bigotry-dressed-up-in-religious-garb nonsense that is the anti-same sex marriage group is quite irritating.

5. Its nothing but homophobia. I wouldn't wish ill upon the anti-gay movement but

if the Earth opened up and swallowed all of them into a lake of fire, I wouldn't be all that disappointed.

Is it bad that sometimes I really wish there was a "rapture" so that one day Jesus would come and collect all the assholes and the rest of us could live in peace?

6. Funny thing is - Jesus would not take any of these cretins back to heaven with him.
We would still be stuck with them.

8. But you are simply failing to understand their argument
Edited on Fri Aug-06-10 11:14 AM by jberryhill
It is possible to disagree, but at least understand the other side's reasons.

You describe it as:

"They just flat out don't like gay people."

And that shows you are not really listening to their arguments, and picking up on the underlying rational foundation for them.

The basic rational principle is - They just flat out HATE AND FEAR gay people.

You see how much more sense they make now?

9. And that's the whole point of the gay bashing....
They want liberals to spend most of our time fighting for civil rights and pro choice while they win all their economic agenda battles which are the only agendas they really give a crap about.
