17 Year Old from Wealthy Family charged in Central Park Armed Robbery Spree

A wealthy former boarding school teen - charged in a Central Park robbery spree - strolled out of the courtroom in a baseball cap and with his jeans hanging low.

Jesse Wasserman, 17, stared silently Friday as prosecutors spelled out the details of a two-man crime spree. Then he was sprung on $150,000 bail.

Police said Wasserman and an accomplice used a fake gun to pull off the crimes beginning late Wednesday.
The son of a New Rochelle doctor, Wasserman was charged with three counts of first-degree robbery. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison. The second suspect has not been caught, police said.

Wasserman, who was expelled last year from an elite Vermont boarding school, stole jewelry, cash and a bicycle from his victims, prosecutors said. He was riding on a key piece of evidence when he was caught on Park Ave. early Thursday.

2. Reeks of entitlement.
Needs a really long sentence to consider why he is squandering all the advantages and gifts he's been given by fortunate DNA.

Meanwhile, I teach kids who hold down 40 hour a week jobs to help their moms support the family with absent fathers, and they still make decent grades and are great people. Several have finished professional degrees and are doing good work in this community. 'Course, they're just a buncha Meskins, not an upstanding citizen like this boy.....

3. I went to school with a bunch of shits like this,
Including a young woman who was an extremely successful pimp, although the moron cops couldn't imagine she was anything but a naive unwitting accomplice. She would host parties where girls would be given all the alcohol and drugs they could take and then when they were damn near unconscious she would deliver them to be raped.

The cops couldn't imagine a preppy little white girl from a good family could be a willing participant in such things,

Another shit was a prolific car thief who took orders, when he was busted he was just a stupid kid who couldn't resist a joyride in a Corvette. The victims even agreed to a misdemeanor so as not to ruin his life. He didn't run with his second chance, he was busted again stealing a car and was sent away for five years less than a year later and probably many stolen cars later.

4. Mom's published in ADHD field. My guess is the kid's had issues...
... like that since birth. Hence the mother's interest in this field. Also, I'd like to know more about the "boarding school."

No, all ADHD kids don't go around robbing people; but very frequently other problems stem from it.

Let's wait a little while before tossing the first stone, eh, DUers?

5. Yes, but I'm thinking no one made this child clean a cat's box.
And I'm so pleased that you don't believe ALL ADHD kids "go around robbing people." What percentage do you think would be more accurate?

6. Lucky for him that his parents have money.
Edited on Sat Aug-07-10 01:11 AM by Gormy Cuss
This type of JD never sees the wrong side of bars because there's always an alternative boarding school for social deviant spawn of monied parents.

Lower income kids with less egregious crimes are SOL.

8. At least he will see a different side of life behind bars
His parents money will be of little help now, except in hiring a good lawyer for their son. But from the looks of the evidence it will be hard to win an acquittal.

17. Hiring a good lawyer is the key to making this go away for him.
He's screwed if his parents don't support him.

The right shrinks testifying about his troubled emotional status or other extenuating circumstances will help make it go away. His mother's an ADD expert -- chances are good that she knows who to line up for him. He could be convicted and given probation with conditions like attending a new private school and counseling and if he's really lucky, there will also be a promise of expungement if all probation conditions are met.

After all, it's just a youthful indiscretion. :sarcasm:

10. Guess pricing the middle class out of NY hasn't worked very well for Bloomberg, eh?
Dumbass thought pushing the poor and working class out of NY would reduce crime -- SURPRISE!!!!! Now it just highlights the FACT that money doesn't equate to sainthood.

23. I can't comprehend how any ordinary person could live there, or even want to
Some friends of mine are finally bailing on Manhattan and moving to Long Beach on Long Island after recognizing that they were paying a fortune to live like starving students in their late 30's.

24. I was born there, and NY was NOT like it is today
There are far too many wealthy people who think they own the city. And Bloomberg just feeds into their massive egos, and institutes elitist laws that push the middle class out. Of course, they want the proles to be able to travel into the city to work for them, but they certainly don't want to have them dirty up the city by living there.

I lived in Brooklyn Heights, in a rent-controlled apartment, which I was sitting for a friend. It can be a wonderful place to live, but the virus that is the nouveau riche that has ruined the city needs to be run out, before NY can become even a shadow of what it used to be.

26. I just hope NY can pull back from this "luxury city" bullshit without imploding
Since the city budget is based on this absurdly contrived situation.

The last straw for my friends was one of them NEEDED a car to get to work and they simply couldn't afford it and realized they had to get out of the city if they were ever going to get ahead financially.
