Dems: No, GOP won't take the House

Top Democrats are willing to concede that the 2010 midterm election isn’t going to be a picnic. It’s been years since the party has faced a landscape this tough, and they know it. But lose the House majority? Please.

As Democratic leaders see things, the economic situation is going to look a lot more promising in the fall than it does right now. And once you factor in the deeply tainted Republican brand and drill down and look at the 435-seat map on a district-by-district basis, the chances of waking up Nov. 3 to a Republican majority in the House are virtually nil.

“We’ve been saying this would be a tough election year, but it’s a hallucination for Republican leaders to think they’ll take back the House — this is not 1994 déjà vu,” Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Chris Van Hollen told POLITICO. “They have to persuade the American people to hand them over the keys, to the same folks who drove the economy into the ditch and now run away from the scene of the accident. All the proposals, the same proposals that got us into the economic mess we’re in.”

if one more democrat uses the "ditch" metaphor I am gonna puke. I get it and it makes sense, but its being repeated constantly and its starting to sound like a talking point. Just phrase it differently.

I'm not disputing the whole repubs driving the economy into a ditch thing, but there's just no way anything is going to be better by the fall. That's 2 friggin' months from now.

If that is what they are betting on, especially given how quickly they've caved and buckled to republican obstructionism with minimal fight then they are in for a world of hurt (which means we are in for a world of hurt).

The Tea Party movement was wide, but it had no depth. The Republicans were riding the wave of "Throw the bums out!", but they have encountered intelligent voters who want more than retribution; they want solutions.

The never ceasing mantra of TeaBaggers decrying the operation of the Government has not been followed up with workable solutions to the problems they point out. Voters want solutions that involve more than public prayer and an end to Socialism.

7. We'll See How Stupid The Electorate Is...

While I've been more and more disenchanted with this administration and its tepid reforms that appear to be the problem not the solutions to many current problems, returning the House and or Senate to the GOOP is absolute madness.

The problem has been the Democrats run despite the rushpublicans not on what they stand for. They go running from the most popular positions on issues in fear of alienating their big money donors and/or the corporate media. And if they continue to fold when the heat is on and not stand up for truth and reality vs. the lies and distortions that permeate the media coming from the rushpublicans.

I've felt the GOOP is its own worst enemy this year as the teabaggers are scaring away the moderates, but Democrats have to stand up and win on their merits, not on how they're not the other guy.

12. I really think the people in this country are a heck of lot smarter

than the republicans give them credit for. While they have the MSM in their pocket, the public knows of the obstruction, delaying and down right asinine actions of the republicans. They are trying to screw up congress but they are screwing their own chances. People see where they want all business for the people to come to a halt and all business for the corporations to full steam ahead. I'll be a big laugh and I expect some of the big shot republicans in the senate to go down along with their counterparts in the House.
