Tell me it's not hypocrisy

The US preaches freedom of speech, democracy, humans rights etc etc to the world especially what they classify as "failed states". It happened to the extreme that one Middle Eastern country was invaded to "save" the people who weren't living under a deomcracy.

But back home, many Americans don't care for human rights issues at all. They get all riled up over the sexual orientation of people and what should be the definition of a legal marriage.

Please tell me it's not hypocrisy.
