The man accused of killing two Chilean students in 2009 is closer to going to trail.
Last year, Dannie Roy Baker was deemed incompetent by a Walton County Judge. But Tuesday in a status hearing, Baker’s attorney presented findings from a private psychologist that said he was in fact competent for trial.
This comes after Florida State Hospital also found him ready to stand trial. In court, his defense attorney says at times he thought he was the President of the United States.
The state planned to seek the death penalty in this case. Prosecutor Bobby Elmore says after two evaluations, they feel it’s fair that he go to trial.
