From the discussions I have had with Congressional and other leaders, I have concluded that because of the Watergate matter I might not have the support of the Congress that I would consider necessary to back the very difficult decisions and carry out the duties of this office in the way the interests of the Nation would require.

I have never been a quitter. To leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body. But as President, I must put the interest of America first. America needs a full-time President and a full-time Congress, particularly at this time with problems we face at home and abroad.

To continue to fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both the President and the Congress in a period when our entire focus should be on the great issues of peace abroad and prosperity without inflation at home.

Therefore, I shall resign the Presidency effective at noon tomorrow. Vice President Ford will be sworn in as President at that hour in this office.

16. My older brother and sister loved Nixon.

Both loved Nixon and were conservatives all their lives. They are also racists. They also loved Bush and are faithful watchers of Faux and listen to right wing radio.

Even though I was just a kid I realized Nixon was evil. But my older siblings thought he was the best president ever.

Oh yeah, my older siblings also say they are 'christians' but are the most selfish and abusive people I have ever known. And when my Mom, Dad and little brother became sick neither of those conservative christians lifted a finger to help. And when my parents and little brother passed away my conservative Christian sister stole all of their money.

I was the caregiver in my family and spent years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to help them, but my older siblings who did nothing to help, attack me for being a liberal.

Thank the REAL god I am not a conservative christian. There is no such thing as a conservative christian. They are antonyms of each other.

I have family members also who choose to remain willfully ignorant no matter what proof I have to argue my side.

I have tried to show them how they vote against their own personal interests but it does no good.

20. I remember the day well

having followed most of the watergate hearing, then I went to heavy equipment operators school and one of the administrators was a rabid repuke and it was so nice to see him in such pain on this day because of all the serious arguments we had on how much of a facist nixon really was. This was graduation day from the school for me.
