What kind of political machine is it that takes its leader and its accomplishments and hides them under a figurative rock? Are they ashamed of what they have done, realize that it really isn't what Americans want/need, or are they too brainwashed/cowed by the RW to play to an apparent strength?

Democratic candidates all but ignore their legislative successes
Avoid bragging, strategists advise, and warn against putting Republicans back in charge.

Reporting from Washington — As Democrats fan out across the country to campaign for reelection this month, many are surprisingly quiet about their hard-won accomplishments — the major bills they have passed under President Obama.

In an effort coordinated with the White House, congressional leaders are urging Democrats to focus less on bragging about what they have done — a landmark healthcare law, a sweeping overhaul of Wall Street regulation and other far-reaching policy changes — and more on efforts to fix the economy and on the perils of Republican control of Congress.

AUSTIN — President Barack Obama's trip to Texas on Monday aims to do something Democrats are still good at in this conservative state - raising money. But it's not designed to bolster the chances of Democrat Bill White in the governor's race.
The former Houston mayor is making a play for moderate voters in both parties and doesn't plan to appear with the president. And the political team for Obama and the Democratic National Committee doesn't appear too concerned with whether White wants Obama in the state.

1. Per Menendez and this article, the reason is the Dems want

to emphasize the choice between political parties, not make it "a referendum on "whether you like or don't like what we did."

"In everything we do, we have to drive that contrast," he said as the Senate wrapped up its legislative business and disbanded Thursday for the August recess.

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. We must remember short attention spans and Americans. KISS aka keep it simple, stupid.

as we do, Reagan and Bush would have been one-term Presidents.

Look at the right-to-lifers-- all these years and they still don't have their abortion ban but they still vote for "maybe next year."

Maybe they're stupid, but who's winning elections?
