now, the work itself: not sure why religious paintings of the "rapture" (a concept not supported by any religious texts) seems to take overwhelming pleasure in the suffering of those left behind. Nor why only the white people are saved.

They have the money so can have artist paint for them. What we see usually is the great art in history that has by passed the junk so it is hard to look at the junk of every day life just as our ancestors had to do. Even Germans hide some of the great art they took from places and showed what their govt. called art. Most of their great artist of Hitlers days were made to leave the country. Same in Russia after the Czar was gone. Many went to Paris and then when Hitler took Paris they came to Am. We then became the center of the art world. At this rate good artist may return to Paris.

Read about Rembrandt. He painted a pictures of 'rulers' how he wanted and it was not like every one else so they really got after him. I've been to a few and lived in a couple, but Spain is by far my favorite country in Europe. This last trip I spent time in Madrid (for New Years) and up North in Basque country (Bilbao, San Sebastian, etc.).

OMG! The FOOD!... :9 the WINE!... my cup runneth over! :beer: I didn't make it to Barcelona this time, but it is one of my favorite places on Earth. I spent New Years there for Y2K... talk about a PARTY! :party:

Nevertheless, I really liked Madrid. It is a very safe city, modern, clean, lots of things to do, it is centrally located... did I mention the food? :D
