I like Mr. Carter too. However, I recall being quite disappointed with certain aspects of his presidency: His insistence on the Neutron Bomb, his admiration for nuclear power, his support for a horrid law that passed during his term that forced minor females to notify their parents before they were allowed prescriptions for the pill.

I greatly admire Mr. Carter but I will not deify him as I will not deify Mr. Obama, nor any human being.

Actually I was pretty young when Jimmy was in office, and to be truthful I've only read his books and bio's that were 'on his side' as it were.
I am a true history buff, that and bio's are the only books I read anymore, so I really ought to read up on
well, not *negative*
but more balanced books & articles on his presidency.

I do recall being ticked as hell when he was undercut by Reagan during the hostage conflict (underhandedly dealing with the Iranians 'a la Nixon did with Vietnam), I remember being outraged at the abuse he took in the media and from the citizenry when he *tried* to liberate the hostages (wasn't his fault the military fucked up so bad!) .
AND that most importantly he got the hostages out alive!
And all he's done after his presidency has been gravy.
mmmmmm, gravy!


So I thank you for the important reminder to become more well rounded in my knowledge especially regarding the wo/men I admire most!
