Democrats fear turnout will be their problem this election so should they |
|
mail every registered Democrat an Absentee Ballot? Republicans have been doing that for well over a Decade and it is obvious that it has increased their turnout enormously..Many Democrats feel they can't be bothered to go to the polls because they feel let down. If they only have to sit at their kitchen table and fill out their ballot and let the post man come take it away would they be more apt to cast a vote? I think it is a no brainier but what do I know????

1. Not a bad idea. Supposedly they are gearing up a huge GOTV |
|
campaign aimed at first time Obama voters.

2. I wouldn't mind a GAPOB effort |
|
Grow a pair of balls and quit running around to anyone who will listen telling them how much they hate the liberal base that helped Obama get elected.

7. Ya know...I've not been able to fathom that |
|
We spend much time here lamenting how so many people aren't backing the progressive vision and in the very next breath we refer to those we want to join us in some of the nastiest terms.
When we call someone a dirty word we either turn then off, and why shouldn't they be turned off, or we say we want that sort of person to be in league with us.
That doesn't make sense.
You make an excellent point.

5. Absentee ballots are a tough issue in Texas |
|
At least here in Dallas, you don't get a mail ballot unless you're handicapped or elderly. Otherwise, you're expected to show up either for early voting or for Election Day itself.

6. That's too bad, but I believe Texas is in the minority that way. |
|
I believe the great majority of states have relaxed their rules where anyone that wants an absentee ballot can get one. I know Republicans have been mailing them out to all Registered Republicans now for going on two decades..It has paid big dividends for them...

8. there's a lot of people who can't even be bothered to fill it out |

at their kitchen table - even though they are registered with the party. You hear lots of things when you're ballot chasing that just make you shake your head.
