Also national media was probably waiting for an official to make an unofficial statement. You know the off the record thing...

When I played PIO I hated working with media at times, and local was really aggressive.

Also Mudflats got it from a relative, which means Guv'ment officials informed the family over the course of the night... again protocol. You don't go public until you told family, no matter how important VIPs are.
